Honson Lau is one of our favorite Captains to see on our social media feeds. A positive attitude matched equally with his skill as his angler, he hit a highlight this summer we asked him if we could share. With no further ado..Honson, in his own words…
I set out this summer with a personal goal in mind. To catch a permit, bonefish, and tarpon all on a flyrod in a day’s outting… This my fellow fisherman is known as the grand slam. I myself have had close calls through the years and many humbling fumbles (most of the time losing the dang permit) but it was all well worth it to finally capture this all on fly: The Grand Slam. I have to give many thanks and the utmost gratitude to my buddies Rick De Paiva and Ross Reeder for helping me achieve this goal. As they say… better late then never!
Pictured you’ll see Honson making use of the RCI Optics ( Right Coast Independent ) polarized sunglasses, Howler Brothers clothing line, Hoo-Rag to protect that mug and Maverick Boats to sneak up on those skittery fish.
