Actually not nice at all… A very young juvenile that hasn’t migrated to the open ocean yet. and the previous poster is correct, they are protected as threatened and are not to be removed from the water
Perfect keeper size
Come on now, you can take a tarpon under 40 out for a photo, why not a Jew. It’s a grouper like all of the rest, those suckers are hardy and if they don’t open a season soon were going to be completely over run by them on our artificial reefs. The kid doesn’t look like a poacher to me, so I say good job.

@matthew_graham_ @ericb622 speak with a wildlife control person the smaller ones are ok to take out of the water to photograph it’s the larger fish who aren’t ever used to coming out of the water where they are weightless when you take them out is the first time they feel their true mass and it crushes their internal organs, the smaller fish don’t have this problem. But your concerns are appreciated to the community!
So since the JEWfish was renamed the Goliath Grouper as not to offend, shouldn’t we rename the Black Grouper too? ?
