Capt. Joe says: My first skiff. Meet “Harvey” – Custom Gheenoe LT25 that lived through Hurricane Harvey, even though the house where it was being stored was totaled. Is it a coincidence the #Gheenoe founder’s name is a letter off from Harvey?! Harley Gheen is surely looking down at this boat, smiling with pride. This skiff has the kind of character I respect: Reliability. Immediately after I brought the skiff to Texas, everyone wanted to come fishing. Ironic how that works. Looking back, some seem to really appreciate and cherish the experiences on this skiff, others take them for granted. Again, Reliability. In the following years, this little 16ft glorified canoe boated thousands of fish amongst many different anglers. It quickly became a boat that would work the coastal waters from Louisiana to POC to PortA to Baffin Bay and many stops inbetween, oftentimes with 3 anglers on board. An overnight tropical storm sank it one time but she fired right back up after an hour and a half of bilge pumping (true story) and a hurricane tried to steal its integrity. It’s been fished hard in just about every imaginable condition Mother Nature has to offer and it continues to perform in stride regardless.
Here’s to Reliability in any facet of life -and the good things that follow.
