Captain Joe says: GOT MUD?!??? That time we ran the new skiff 15mi. into the labyrinth of Louisiana marsh to avoid 30mph winds and white caps that beat us up on the ride out. We stopped to fish a bayou drain after spotting reds, not realizing it was 1” water on top of 4ft of moist, sticky mud. Then the oh shit moment happened. When I pushed the pole down multiple strokes into the mud without moving the boat, I knew we were in trouble. After Jeremy and I swam the boat out of mud for an hour, we celebrated not having to use the EPIRB or sleep on the skiff until high tide. —and no Crocodile encounters in Cocodrie—. We then found two of largest bull reds I’ve ever witnessed sight-fishing immediately after. All stains came out of my #FreeFly shirt after a week of soaking in #Palmolive water. Here’s to keeping it raw and real. ?
