One of the most amazing places to fish in South Florida is the tiny pseudo “city” of Flamingo in Everglades National Park. If you’re driving from The mainland, it’s a 40 mile ride once you enter the Park in Florida City, but it’s worth it.
Once you hit the boat ramps you can go north into the Whitewater, Hell’s Bay areas or south into Florida Bay. Either way gives you access to the West Coast and there really isn’t much you cant catch if the conditions are right. [Continue Reading]
The basics are redfish, tarpon, snook, sharks and trout on the flats, but all those species are available I the channels, rivers and Cape areas along with goliath grouper, cobia, mackerel, and even bonefish and occasionally permit. Whether bait, artificial of fly is your choice, it will work in Flamingo and the wildlife encounters will turn an ordinary day into a great one.
