The Panga style fishing boat is known worldwide for being an efficient, fish slaying machine. From the beaches of Cabo San Lucas, over to Asia & the Philippines and back to our beloved coasts of Florida, they run inshore, nearshore & offshore and anywhere in between. This versatile boat is so popular because of its low cost to build, small horsepower requirements and ability to eat nasty weather like a champ, all while still able to launch/land from a beach.
One of our favorite boat designer’s Tom Mitzlaff has taken pencil to paper to design what he feels is a panga design true to it’s form. You’ll remember Tom Mitzlaff as the designer of the Mitzi Skiff, a revolutionary poling skiff that is still built today. The Mitzi skiff turned the skiff world on it’s head with a streamlined manufacturing technique and a terrific balance of comfort & technical features that are difficult to factor into a technical poling skiff. Taking that early success, Tom then focused inshore with his popular Solo Skiff, a massively popular hybrid motorized kayak.
Intailly born out of Tom’s occasional need to jump offshore with family & friends, Tom’s latest offering is a beautiful, 100% AMERICAN MADE, 20′ with a 6′ Beam Panga. True to the panga form that made them popular, Tom’s Panga will be simple, rugged, no-frills, and priced like pangas, AFFORDABLE! How affordable? How does under $10,000 (hull only) sound? In today’s world of six figure bay boats, this Panga will provide a nice respite from mortgage level pricing and make finding a nearshore capable fishing boat affordable to a great deal of people.

Here are some great pics of the renderings Tom has so far. Molds are being built and we’ll definitely keep in touch with Tom as this develops.
