It’s a tough world out there and the ocean is just as brutal if not more of a place to live! Natural predators and man make for “situation awareness” a mantra not for JUST man alone. Between inexperienced fishermen “burning flats” ie. crossing shallow water at a high rate of speed and coming into contact with a school of fish (usually the same fish they are trying to catch, DUH!)… OR sharks being sharks and taking the opportunity to feed when a meal presents itself (The Taxman), there is a host of threats to a fish’s existence at any given moment.
Here are a few samples of those fish who “took one for the team” and lived to fight another day.
We got a GENUINE tough guy here!! Prop-scar redfish? Yep! Capt. Jared Simonetti with http://www.captjared.com/ was scouting Tampa for reds when he caught this over slot redfish. He could tell the scars were starting to heal but was still very careful during the release and it swam off to continue to recuperate . This is one TOUGH red!
Check this one out! Jay Perkerson shared his buddy’s Black Drum catch …TOTAL scar tissue from what they thought was a previous Shark bite…CRAZY! Jay said it put a tough fight and was released ready to fight another day…Great pics guys! How many of you guys have pics where the fish escaped injuries to fight another day? The will to survive is a powerful thing!
